Does affordable medication matter to you? It does to us.

Members like Tricia save on prescriptions, just by being members. So do you. Because great ways to save are already built in to your plan.

Your prescription plan helps you get medications — and save on them, too

How your plan works

Your prescription plan provides coverage to help you pay for your medication. Without your plan, you’d pay the prices that drug companies ask for. CVS Caremark® steps in to help lower those prices.

Getting your medication

Getting your medication is just as important as being able to pay for it. Your plan’s network has many pharmacies to choose from, so you can pick up or refill at one near you to save money and time. Plus, your plan may offer mail pharmacy and delivery options, in case picking up isn’t your style.

More ways we help

Your prescription plan is a benefit, and we help you make the most of it. We give you and your doctor ways to check your coverage. That way, you can discuss costs ahead of time. And if there's ever a way for you to save more on medication, we'll let you know.

With a big family like mine and with all the conditions, I would never want to switch anywhere else. It's been extremely affordable for us.

CVS Caremark is a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) within CVS Health®. As a PBM, we manage prescription plans for 89 million people.* A big part of that is negotiating with drug manufacturers to lower the cost of prescription drugs, to make medications more affordable.

A prescription drug benefit covers medications that are typically picked up at the pharmacy or delivered to the home.

PBMs work alongside health plans and employers to administer prescription drug benefits. Depending on a person’s insurance, they may be able to use their health insurance card when they pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy, or they may have a separate card specifically for prescription drug coverage.

Your prescription plan covers medications on a drug list called a formulary. Pharmacists and physicians use the latest research, guidelines and best practices to make the formulary. CVS Caremark helps lower the cost of these prescription drugs by negotiating with drug manufacturers. On top of prescription coverage, we help you find extra ways to save. One way we do this is by helping you compare medication costs, filling in 30 or 90 day supplies.

There are a few. They all help you get and pay for your medication:

  • Negotiate discounts on drug pricing set by manufacturers
  • Put together a network of pharmacies you can use
  • Help you get the best use of your prescription plan
  • Make and maintain formularies, which are the lists of drugs your plan covers
  • Offer home delivery or pickup options
  • Process pharmacy claims

Did you know peace of mind is part of your plan, too?

Speaker 1:

Making personal support the center of Rodney's story, when a CVS Caremark customer care rep helped him get back to giving back with a new glucose monitor.

Speaker 2:

When I knew that the representative was listening, I felt at ease, like a burden was being lifted. Now I can get what I need. It's an exhilarating feeling that they really care. That's what this is all about--helping somebody else along the way.
